our guide to easy upgrades that will elevate your home

Home Hacks 101

As an interior designer, I often get asked how to spruce up a space without diving into a major renovation or spending a fortune. The good news is, there are plenty of simple, budget-friendly ways to elevate your home and really transform the entire look. Here are a few of my favorite quick and easy fixes that can make a big impact.

swapping hardware

One of the quickest ways to update your kitchen, bathroom, or even a piece of furniture is by swapping out old hardware. We do this often with our clients who don't want to completely construct a new space, and you would be shocked at how such an easy fix can make such a huge difference. New knobs and pulls can completely change the look of cabinets and drawers, some of our favorite hardware finishes are brass and polished nickel. In our Project Namaste in Jup, we chose to swap the existing hardware as well as replacing the stove hood in the kitchen.

perfect the pillows

Does your bed feel lifeless and boring? One of my favorite places to upgrade in my own home is my bed. Pillows make such a difference as they have a way of adding texture, comfort and coziness to your bed. Using oversized and overfilled down pillow inserts is one of my favorite hacks. These pillow inserts will hold their shape and keep your bed (or couch!) looking fabulous during the day.

play with placement

Sometimes, all it takes to refresh a room is a new layout. Experiment with different furniture arrangements to find a setup that feels more open and inviting. Don’t be afraid to move pieces from one room to another – you might be surprised at how different they look in a new setting.

layer your lighting

We love a good floor lamp + table lamp combo. Layering light fixtures is an easy way to seriously transform your space - play with height and go for funky light fixtures that will add character to your room.
