As a designer, some of the most frequently asked questions I get are about beds. Whether you're wondering which fabric makes for the softest sheets, which color duvet to choose, or how to arrange your pillows - I have all of the advice you need to transform your bed into something out of a hotel.
start with the sheets
At the end of the day, all we really want is to crawl into a cozy bed. That's why your sheets and bedding matter the most - and I have a few favorite materials and brands. This sheet set by Boll and Branch is a fan favorite, including a flat sheet, fitted sheet. and 2 pillowcases. Made of 100% organic cotton, the sheets get softer with every wash and the quality is truly dreamy.

make it pretty
In order to really create the "hotel bed" look, we have a few recommendations. Choose a duvet cover that is soft, cozy, beautiful, and durable. Our go-to material for a duvet is linen, and we love this linen duvet set by Parachute Home, which includes a duvet cover and matching sham set. The texture, feel, and durability can't be beat! For bonus comfort, adding a blanket, like this waffle bed blanket by Boll and Branch is a must. Throw this in between your sheets and duvet for extra coziness.

it's all in the pillows
Pillows help tie the whole bed together, so choosing the right ones are important. We always recommend four king size pillows - two for show, and two for comfort. These down alternative pillows by Parachute come in 3 different densities - soft, medium and firm.
For decorative pillows, we recommend a few combinations. The first combination we love consists of three euro shams and two 22x22 shams. Another option is combining three 22x22 shams with two lumbar pillows.
When choosing pillow inserts, make sure to pick ones that are voluminous and shapable, like these euro shams by Parachute. This lumbar pillow insert by Parachute is filled with 100% hypoallergenic microfiber fill, and fits perfectly into any lumbar pillow cover.
When it's time to choose pillow covers, choose patterns and colors that compliment each other and the room - don't be afraid to play around and be bold!
