For this project, we transformed a dated, traditional condo into a relaxing, inviting retreat for our clients. Our main goal with this space was to maximize it. Our clients purchased this condo as a vacation home, with dreams of hosting and entertaining their family and friends throughout the year. With limited space, we were faced with the challenge of creating multifunctional spaces, so that our clients (and their guests!) can all stay comfortably.
One of our favorite multifunctional pieces in this project is this bunk bed. Made of solid alderwood, this bed is both durable and lightweight. Its design consists of a twin bed on top, as well as a queen bed on the bottom, assuring every guest sleeps comfortably.
multifunctional furniture
When you're trying to maximize your space, furniture is key. Choose pieces that allow for the most function. Bunk beds serve as wonderful space-saving solutions, leaving valuable floor area free for other activities or furniture. This confines space - but also opens up room for desks, play areas, or storage units underneath. Bunk beds don't just provide a comfortable sleeping arrangement; they also promote versatility and creativity in interior layout, making them a practical (and stylish!) choice for space-conscious rooms.
Space-saving furniture, like this bench that slides underneath this console table, is the perfect example of beauty and functionality working to save space. This dual-purpose piece not only provides a stylish touch to the decor but also ensures flexibility in the room.
materials that last
Whether it's dirt, sand, or spills - choosing materials that are durable and washable are a must. For this project, we chose rugs, bedding and furniture that are built to withstand just about anything, including your kids sandy feet - while looking beautiful in the process.
We chose linen bedding and pillow covers for the guest bunks. Linen is known for being soft and cozy - but it is also one of the most durable and resistant fibers, making it a great choice for this room.
This denim indoor-outdoor rug was the perfect addition to this space. While soft and cozy, this rug is made of performance materials and is able to withstand just about anything. The dark denim color adds a pop of character to the room (and also hides dirt!)
